“MOUSE WATCH”
The last mouse you’ve seen in the LRC building may not have been sitting next to your computer. If you think you’ve seen a real live mouse scurry by you out of the corner of your eye, you have!
Our uninvited guests have made our home their home for about two weeks now, and it’s amazing how a creature as tiny as a field mouse can set us humans on the move, and put us on “mouse watch.”
Within minutes of a sighting in the Learning Center, our facilities personnel were there with traps, laden with peanut butter, to capture the feisty little rodents. It didn’t take long to catch our first victim, who bit the dust with his first bite of peanut butter, and was laid to rest in the nearest trash can outside of the building.
Not so was the fate of the mouse that was brave enough to make his way up the stairs to the Library. Lucky for this little guy, the kind-hearted librarians had set a “live catch” trap. He got his peanut butter, and lived to tell about it when he was humanely released back into the field.
Of course, we’re in trouble if he also tells his friends that not only is there free food in the library, but the librarians will drive them safely back home after dinner. So watch your step on the stairs!
LATEST ARRIVAL
In addition to the “Mouse Watch,” the library has also been on “Baby Watch” the last couple of weeks, and today we’re reporting that there has been a sighting. Jeanne Maggard, Library Technician, got her first glimpse of her new granddaughter around noon on Saturday December 5th. Daughter Jeanette gave birth to 8 pound, 2 ounce, Ariana Nicole Osborn, amidst the usual fanfare. Mom and baby are doing well.
Congratulations to Jeanette, Daddy Kris, and all of Jeanne’s family.
Check back soon for baby updates and photos.
