Creating Permanent Links to Streaming Media/Library Resources

To create a permanent URL link (permalink) to one of the library’s subscription databases such as an article from a database, an eBook or a streaming video,  it is necessary to include the library proxy server prefix, don’t be scared it like using an area code for a phone number.   Yes you will still have to login with your BlackBoard user name and password BUT the permalink will take you right to to article, eBook or video instead of having to search for it again. Just think of the uses!  adding a permalink  to a paper or other assignment!  very cool.

The red and blue colors are added for clarity only.

You can do this!!!

This is the proxy server prefix (remember like an area code)

Here we go!:

If you want to make a permalink to

add   to the front of the blue link

you are finished and have created a  permalink!

MSJC Libraries Mobile Website

You can access information from MSJC Libraries through your mobile device whenever you need it.  The MSJC Libraries Mobile Website will display information for most mobile devices including Android and Apple in a text-only view with minimum images in order to enable viewing on small screens.

The MSJC libraries website offers access to

  • Databases such as Ebscohost,
  • eBooks (Ebscohost – formerly NetLibrary)
  • Library Catalog
  • Library hours and phones numbers
  • Blackboard
  • Interlibrary loan requests

To access the MSJC Libraries Mobile Website, you will need a device that is web-capable such as a Blackberry, iPhone or Palm.  You will need to connect to the Internet through your carrier’s data plan or through Wi-Fi.  To access most databases and Blackboard you will need your user name and password.

To connect to the MSJC Libraries Mobile Website, launch the browser for your device and go to MSJC Libraries. Bookmark the site on your device to have access at your fingertips.

Featured Database – is free.  Searches can be made in over 40 databases and nearly 2,000 websites containing more than 200 million pages of reliable science information (No password is required).  For example the search for flu returns a list of trustworthy databases and websites.
